DINplus non-woody Pellets

A new DINplus certification:

non woody pellets

The growing demand for alternative heating systems starts with the fuel. Thus, DIN CERTCO now also certify non-woody pellets, also known as bio-pellets or agro-pellets, according to DINplus, e.g. made from coffee, bamboo, rice, straw, hay, coconuts, wheat residues, sugar beet and sugar cane residues, etc. These biomass residues, which were previously often dumped as waste or burned in an uncontrolled manner, represent with the DINplus certification a fuel that has been controlled by audits and tested by external testing laboratories. With DINplus certification for non-woody pellets, the end- consumer is assured of a high-quality fuel. In consequence, the certificate holder can stand out strongly from the competition in the market and gains easier access to new markets.

Certification procedure:

After the complete application has been submitted, the production facility or warehouse is audited in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17225-6: 2021 and our DINplus non-woody pellets certification scheme. Among other things, the internal quality assurance are checked. The samples taken at the plant by the auditor (from the ongoing production or the stored goods) are sent to a DIN CERTCO-recognized laboratory for technical testing. After positive assessment of the documents, the certificate is issued for 5 years. In order to ensure that the consistently high quality of the non-woody pellets is guaranteed, an annual control takes place.

The non-woody pellets are clearly to be distinguished from the wood pellets and are only to be used in the approved and suitable combustion sites. The raw materials for non-woody pellets must not originate from land or overexploitation or be suitable for use as food.

Our Partners:

We are pleased to be able to offer customers this new certification in cooperation with our long term partners "BEA Institut für Bioenergie GmbH" and "Eurofins Umwelt Ost GmbH". Our partners are recognized as external testing laboratories and as inspection bodies by DIN CERTCO for the DINplus non-woody pellets. In addition, they are accredited as independent testing laboratories.
