Examination for "Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Practitioner"

To combat man-made climate change, the concentration of greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere must be reduced. To this end, it must be possible to compare emissions at product level. The preconditions and calculation methods have been transferred by standardisation bodies at global level into the ISO 14060 series of standards.

Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) practitioners are responsible for calculating greenhouse gas emissions at product level in all phases of the life cycle in accordance with ISO 14067. The calculation of greenhouse gases and compliance with the generally recognised rules of technology requires appropriate expertise (professional training and experience) on the part of the assessors. These persons must be able to provide evidence of the required qualification at all times.

Expertise in calculating the product carbon footprint is rarely included in the training of technicians, scientists and engineers. DIN CERTCO offers the opportunity to prove knowledge acquired in practice or through further training by means of a certificate and a certification mark. In cooperation with Carbon Action, DIN CERTCO offers interested persons a personal certification based on the training course "ISO 14067:2018 GREENHOUSE GASES - Product Carbon Footprint Training".

Contents of the Carbon Action training course:

Carbon Action has developed a course that enables professionals to prepare the carbon footprint of products in accordance with the ISO 14067 standard

Participants will gain expertise in:

• Understanding ISO 14067:2018: key principles and requirements.
• Analysing life cycle data: Techniques for defining system boundaries, collecting accurate data and calculating carbon footprints.
• Practical application: Case studies and activities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life scenarios.
• PCF reporting: Preparation of transparent and credible reports for third-party verification.

During the four days of Carbon Action training, you will receive in-depth information on the complex framework and requirements for handling ISO 14067.

The examination will be held in the week following the end of the seminar in the form of a multiple-choice examination and a practical examination with an emissions calculation task and will last approx. 120 minutes.
