Untreated wood briquettes for Solid Fuel Boilers
The DIN standard also stipulates limit values for untreated wood briquettes that are not suitable for automatic-feed, wood pellet boilers.
As a rule, these are so-called wood briquettes belonging to size classifications above that of wood pellets. For many years already, DIN CERTCO's standard conformity mark "DIN-Geprüft" has been the guarantee that these products are in conformity with the prescribed standard requirements.
Untreated wood briquettes with the corresponding mark are tested exclusively according to the specifications of DIN 51731. The differences in the requirements tested in the course of awarding the quality Mark "DINplus" lie in the limit values of some of the product characteristics. Abrasion behaviour is not tested in the course of this certification.
The monitoring measures are confined to the annually repeated product test, performed in a testing laboratory recognized by DIN CERTCO.
Certification also in Conformity with the European Standard
The endeavours currently being undertaken by the European Commission, in the framework of a European harmonisation of norms and standards, to create a stable market for bio-fuels in Europe, will lead, in the mid-term, to the revocation of national standards.
DIN CERTCO - as so often irrefutably demonstrated - is also amply prepared for this contingency. When the time comes, the basic certification specifications, under consideration of the prevailing demands, can be adapted in the shortest possible time. In this way, we enable for our customers the smooth transition from the national to the international age of certification.
