Chilled Ceilings

Chilled ceilings emit its capacity, similar to hot floor heating systems, - in dependence on the model - though radiation and only for minor proportion through convection. One obtains a comfortable indoor climate which is free of draught and noiseless by "silent cooling".

The determination of cooling capacity is one of the most important basis for a specified laying of chilled ceilings as well as for a collet of thermal loads of buildings. The more important is that the testing of the cooling capacity is carried out according to standardised measurement methods so that comparable and repeatable activity values are obtained.

This is represented by using a DIN-Geprüft certification - determined, tested, certified and monitored quality by a neutral testing laboratory. The "DIN- Geprüft" mark documents the conformity with the requirements specified in the standars.

The basis for the awarding of the DIN mark is the DIN CERTCO certification scheme "chilled ceilings – DIN- Geprüft". The scheme is based on the European standard:

  • DIN EN 14240 "Ventilation for buildings – chilled ceilings – testing and rating cooling capacity"

This standard includes the regulation of cooling capacity for the testing procedure.

Testing and Assessment

Only those chilled ceilings get the mark which provide the accordance with the standards by a successfully passing test in a testing laboratory recognized by DIN CERTCO and subsequent neutral assessment.

After a positive assessment result DIN CERTCO issues a certificate which is valid for five years. The registration number for a clear identification of the certified product has the following structure: 5Rxxx/XX. (registration number/year endorsement)
